Goals

Sinoah’s Ark’s two primary goals are:

  1. To create an environment where children feel safe and nurtured.

  2. To inspire creativity, learning, and development.

Sinoah’s Ark intends to meet these goals with the following philosophical approaches.

Atmosphere

Sinoah’s Ark is intended to be a home away from home. A place where children can play, learn, grow, discover, and explore. Sinoah’s Ark is a safe space for children to develop and thrive. Sinoah’s Ark strives to equip children with skills that are practical and useful in every day life.             Sinoah’s Ark highly values and supports children’s relationships with others, and strives to make daycare a place where connections are formed and fostered to develop kind and compassionate individuals.

Teaching Philosophy

Sinoah’s Ark supports play based learning which means learning is primarily child led and open ended. Children are provided materials and concepts, then are allowed and encouraged to use their imaginations, explore, and discover through play. Sinoah’s Ark believes that play based learning is strength based; this assists staff in identifying and supporting children’s strengths.

Sinoah’s Ark has a flexible and inclusive curriculum that can be easily adapted and applied in play based learning situations for all children. Curriculum is used as a means to spark ideas in children that nurtures and enriches development in all areas including: cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and creative development.

Sinoah’s Ark is a strong supporter of early literacy and encourages the use of books and reading at an early age. Sinoah’s Ark frequently visits the library in order to encourage love of literature and participation as part of the community.

Experiential Learning

Sinoah’s Ark believes children thrive when interacting with natural environments and sensorial materials. At Sinoah’s Ark, children are frequently outdoors, this includes the backyard, parks, and trails. Children are encouraged to explore a variety of natural materials, and bring some of those materials indoors to support additional sensory learning.

Procare

Sinoah’s Ark’s highly values the involvement and inclusion of the children's families in their children's learning. While parents and caregivers may not be able to spend the whole day with their child while they attend daycare, Sinoah's Ark strives to keep children's' families informed and included in the children's learnings. Sinoah's Ark uses Procare to streamline communication between staff and families. Procare allows Sinoah's Ark staff to update families with photos and notes about the children's day, so families feel included and knowledgeable in their children's learning. Our Day

What do we do in a day?... Our day follows a rhythm so kids can arrive feeling confident, knowing what the day will consist of, yet offering enough flexibility that we can meet any additional needs that may arise. In a day, we engage in free play, a craft or art, sensory activities and small world playscapes, engaging in circle time activities, time spent drawing and writing in journals, and opportunities for fine motor, literacy and numeracy activities. Another big part of our day is time spent outside! It is so important for the children's development to experience fresh air, and natural elements including ALL weather scenarios. Our goal is always a minimum one hour outdoors, but many days it may be as many as four!
